About Aspen Square Condominiums

Aspen Square Condominiums is one of downtown Aspen’s most sought-after places to own a vacation home. Located on East Cooper Avenue, the property is just steps from the Silver Queen Gondola, world-class restaurants, boutique shopping, grocery stores, pharmacies, and the Rubey Park Transit Center, making it easy to enjoy everything Aspen has to offer without a car.

The condominium community also features beautifully landscaped grounds and a heated outdoor pool, providing owners and guests with an exceptional mountain experience throughout every season. Its unbeatable location and resort-style amenities make Aspen Square a popular choice for both vacation homeowners and rental property investors.

When owners choose to remodel an Aspen Square condominium, they’re not only updating the living space—they’re investing in one of Aspen’s most desirable real estate locations. Quality renovations can improve comfort, maximize functionality, and help preserve long-term property value.

Planning the Remodel & Navigating Aspen's Permit Process

Every successful Aspen condo remodel starts with careful planning. Before construction could begin, the project required detailed design work and coordination through the City of Aspen’s building permit process.

We were fortunate to work alongside Z-Group Architects, whose exceptional design plans and expertise helped guide the project from concept through permit approval. Their collaboration ensured the renovation met building requirements while creating a functional, modern design that respected the character of the condominium. With the plans approved, our team was able to move confidently into demolition and begin transforming the space.

Kitchen & Bathroom Transformation

The kitchen and bathroom were completely reimagined to maximize functionality, storage, and everyday comfort within the condominium’s compact footprint. Outdated finishes were replaced with durable, high-quality materials that complement Aspen’s mountain lifestyle while creating a brighter, more modern living space.

The renovation included new granite countertops, Kohler sinks and faucets, updated cabinet and drawer hardware, a new garbage disposal, porcelain tile flooring, improved electrical and plumbing components, and fresh paint throughout. Every detail was selected to provide lasting performance while giving the condo a timeless, upscale appearance.

The Mirror Removal Challenge

One of the most rewarding—and challenging—parts of this Aspen condo remodel was removing the original floor-to-ceiling bedroom mirrors that had been in place since the 1980s. Although we carefully separated each mirror from the wall to preserve the existing drywall, decades-old silicone adhesive had bonded the mirrors so tightly that significant wall repairs were unavoidable.

Once the mirrors were removed, areas that had never been finished suddenly became visible. We repaired damaged drywall, extended baseboards and trim, applied multiple skim coats to create perfectly smooth walls, matched the existing texture, and finished everything with fresh paint. The result was well worth the effort, transforming the bedroom into a brighter, cleaner, and more contemporary space while eliminating one of the home’s most dated features.

Sustainable Remodeling

At Aspen Home Improvement, we look for opportunities to reduce construction waste whenever possible. During this remodel, several of the large bedroom mirrors were removed intact and donated for reuse instead of being sent to the Pitkin County Landfill.

Reusing building materials helps reduce disposal costs, keeps usable products in circulation, and diverts waste from local landfills. It’s a small step that benefits both the project budget and the environment, reflecting our commitment to responsible remodeling practices whenever practical.

From the completely renovated kitchen and bathroom to the updated fireplace, new flooring, fresh paint, custom finishes, and improved mechanical and electrical systems, every detail was thoughtfully upgraded to maximize comfort, functionality, and long-term value.

The finished remodel demonstrates how quality craftsmanship and careful planning can completely redefine a compact living space. Whether used as a vacation home or investment property, this Aspen condo is now better equipped to serve its owners for many years while complementing its unbeatable downtown Aspen location just steps from the Silver Queen Gondola.
